How to Float and Floating Tips

Arrive, check-in and shower

When you arrive we will go over the float experience and answer any questions you may have. You will be taken to your private room and advised to shower before entering the float tank. This removes any dirt, oil or fragrances to ensure you have the best floating experience.

Put in you earplugs

We provide you with earplugs which helps prevent water from entering your ears. You do not have to wear them but we highly recommend it as the water in the ears can become a distraction and stop you from fully disconnecting. We advise using the silicone earplugs over the foam earplugs.

Enter the float tank

Step into the float tank, closing the door behind you. Lay on your back and allow the epsom salt enriched water to fully support you and allow you to float effortlessly. Let your head and neck relax and feel the tension escape your body. We provide a float ring for your head that can help your neck feel more comfortable. Move your body and find a position where you feel comfortable. When you feel ready, turn off the lights using the switch. The session begins with 10 minutes of soothing music which will gradually fade out and leave you to float in blissful peace.

Relax, breathe and enjoy

Just relax. Let your thoughts float away and remember to control your breathing. Take deep relaxing breaths and simply let go and bathe in tranquility. You can control the lights from the button inside the tank and you can open the door and get out at any point. Our tanks also are fitted with a panic button should you panic and want help.

5 minutes before the end of the float session, the music will slowly fade back in to let you know that the time is almost up.

Feel that post float glow

Turn on the lights and step out when you’re ready. Shake and remove as much excess salt water from your hair and body before stepping out of the tank. Shower, get dressed and bask in your post float glow. Enjoy some warm tea and relax in the shop before leaving and continuing your day with that extra feeling of euphoria.

Tips To Enhance Your Float Experience

  • No Shaving 24 Hours Before

The salt water can irritate freshly shaved skin which can cause discomfort and ultimately affect your floating experience. Put the petroleum jelly provided on any small cuts or scratches to stop the salt stinging them.

  • No Recently Dyed Hair

The high salt concentration can remove the new colour from your hair and contaminate the tank. If you still see some colour coming from the shower water at home or on your towel, wait a couple more days or showers before floating.

  • Don't Stress Over Time

Music comes on 5 minutes before the end of your float session. An hour can seem like a long time in darkness and silence, especailly as there is no clock. Instead of worrying about time, focus on your breath to stop your mind drifting.

  • Have No Expectations

There is no right or wrong way to float. Floating is an entirely individualistic experience, find what works for you. It usually takes 3 sessions for you to fully relax and get used to the float environment. Floating gets better each time.

  • Hygiene and Cleaning

We have a powerful filtration system that filters the water four times between clients. We use 1-micron filtration, UV rays, hydrogen peroxide and maintain the pH to keep the water at its cleanest. The water is far cleaner than your local swimming pool.

  • Eat A Light Meal

We do not recommend that you float on a super full stomach nor when you are hungry. We suggest eating a small light meal 90 to 120 minutes before your float session to allow the food some time to settle.

  • Breath

If you find your mind wandering and struggling to let go, pay attention to the pattern of your breath. Ensure to take deep, slow breaths and focus on the process. This will help your mind to calm.

  • Stay Hydrated

Try remain hydrated throughout the day, but don’t drink large amounts of water right before floating. Always use the toilet before a session as leaving the tank to use the toilet can take away from the experience.

  • Float Nude

A bathing suit can press against the skin causing a distraction. We want to eliminate all external irritations and distractions so we advise that you float nude. Each float tank is in a private room with a lock.

  • No Stimulants

Caffeine and other stimulants may affect how your body and mind relax. If you want to achieve a deep state of relaxation, we advise not having any stimulants 3 to 4 hours before the float session.
